History

Drift Enterprise is the product of Ryan Hogan, Matt Barron, and Mark Medalla.

In late 2004, Ryan moved back to Salt Lake City from San Diego and brought with him a part of the So-Cal import culture with a hint of the Option video series. He was driving his 2004 Mitsubishi Evolution and S14 Zenki at the time and wanted to attend the next series of drift events in Utah only to find that there were not any, nor had there ever been any held in this state.

After participating in autocross for two seasons Ryan was unable to contain the drift-bug any longer and decided that his only option was that he would have to start a company to hold the first sanctioned and safe drift events in Utah. He attended a meeting in the fall of 2006 with other drivers who felt the same way, but could not get a consensus on where, how, or who could assist in this daunting task. Undiscouraged, he began writing up proposals for local tracks to take a look at as well as compiling online videos to present.

In spring of 2007, Rocky Mountain Raceways approved the first ever drift event in Utah with Drift Enterprise, L.L.C. This event took place on a balmy May evening and drew more than twenty drivers from all over the states of Utah and Idaho. This was the origin of fun, sanctioned, and legal drifting for the state of Utah, which took it off the streets and out of the canyons with the assistance of Woon Lyu.

The first season was full of excitement, tire-smoke, and even some all wheel bank drifting and ended with drifter Michael Blevins crowned as the inaugural season champion.

Shortly following DE Season 1, Matt Barron approached Ryan with some new ideas and an interest in becoming a partner, with their enthusiasm and resolve they would take drifting to the next level in Utah by starting the Utahdrift.com website.

After the success of the Test and Tunes of DE Season 2 in April of 2007, Mark Medalla came on board as a partner to contribute to the success of Drift Enterprise by bringing his unique skill set.
